Orphans take the opener on a 9th inning groundout. Infield was playing back with the slow footed Kling at the plate. His groundball C was enough to get the win for Chicago.

Jack Taylor completed the game without help from the bullpen at Robison Field
as the Chicago Orphans beat the St. Louis Cardinals by the count of 3 to
2.

The game was won by Chicago with a run in the top of the 9th inning. Jack
Doyle slapped a base-hit. Jim Delahanty came next and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Barry McCormick then reached on an error. Johnny Kling
followed and he would ground out scoring the run. Chicago finished with 8
hits in the victory.

The victory went to Taylor(1-0) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. Jack
Powell(0-1) absorbed the loss. He allowed 8 hits and no walks in 9 innings.
