Superbas release 25-year old catcher the day after his first hit in a Brooklyn uniform
Fresh off a 12-11 win, where Steelman went 1-4 with a walk, the Superbas released the young catcher. Steelman was 1 for 8 in his brief Brooklyn career (includes an 0-4 performance in 1900). With Duke Farrell and Deacon McGuire already on the roster, Steelman wasn't expected to get a lot of playing time.
