Flick's 2-run shot in the 9th closed the gap for Philadelphia. McJames was able to get out of it though and hang on for the save. |

4,159 fans were treated to a fine game at Washington Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Brooklyn Superbas won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
Brooklyn brought 3 runs across the plate in the 3rd inning. The crucial
at-bat was provided by Tom McCreery who electrified Washington Park when he
stroked a one-base hit which was good for two runs. Philadelphia threatened
in the 9th but their rally came up short.
The win went to Gene McCann(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 6 and 2/3 innings. Doc
McJames was credited with his 1st save. Jack Townsend(0-1) was charged with
the loss.
