April 20th



Pirates had to call on Jack Chesbro in the 9th to nail this one down. Reds had loaded the bases, and one already in. Chesbro got a DP ball to effectively end the rally and get the save. Hahn didn't have it in the middle innings as his opponent Leever even had 3 hits and 3 ribbies.

At League Park the Pittsburg Pirates outscored the Cincinnati Reds 9 to
6.

Cincinnati never recovered after Pittsburg took the lead in the top of the 3rd
inning plating an isolated run on 2 hits. Pittsburg totaled 13 on the
afternoon.

The victory went to Sam Leever(1-0) who went 8 innings, allowing 6 runs.
Leever got help from Jack Chesbro who was credited with his 1st save. The
loss was charged to Noodles Hahn(0-1). He was touched for 13 hits and 2
walks in 9 innings.
