The Philadelphia Phillies nipped the Boston Beaneaters in 10 innings 3 to 2 at
Baker Bowl in a hard fought contest.
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Philadelphia came
out the victor in the 10th inning. Jimmy Slagle drew a walk. After an out
was recorded, Elmer Flick came to the plate and stroked a one-base hit.
Klondike Douglass then smacked a single resulting in a mighty exciting win
for Philadelphia and the 2,758 home town fans in attendance. Philadelphia
had a total of 9 hits for the game.
The victory was credited to Bill Duggleby(1-1) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Vic Willis(0-1) was given the loss. He surrendered 3 runs and 9 hits
in 9 and 1/3 innings.
