Ducky Holmes had 2 base hits and 4 RBI at Bennett Park as the Detroit Tigers
pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Milwaukee Brewers by the count of
7 to 6.
Detroit came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning when
they scored 4 runs on 3 hits. The key at-bat was by Holmes who thrilled the
crowd when he tripled with all three runners coming home. Detroit totaled 10
on the afternoon.
The victory went to Emil Frisk(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. The
losing pitcher was Ned Garvin(0-1). Frisk and Holmes were really whooping it
up in the clubhouse after the great come from behind victory. As George
Stallings noted, 'A win like this one can do wonders for a team's attitude.'
Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the players - even you guys - it's
better than winning by a dozen runs!'
