Phillips just got buried by a singles avalanche in the first inning. Reds just never got it going after that. What offense they showed was way too little, way too late.

Danny Green went deep and had 3 RBI and Jack Taylor tossed a complete game as
the Chicago Orphans defeated the Cincinnati Reds 9 to 5 at League
Park.
 
Chicago promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they scored 5
runs on 5 hits.  Both teams totaled 11 on the afternoon.  
 
Taylor(2-0), allowing 5 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Bill
Phillips(0-1) took the loss.  He allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.
