Ed Siever tossed a complete game as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Milwaukee
Brewers 6 to 5 at Bennett Park.
Detroit won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits. Jimmy Barrett led off and he reached on an
error. Two outs later Pop Dillon stepped in and he ripped a base-knock
bringing in a run. Harry Lochhead then banged out a single. Doc Nance came
up and he drew a walk to load the bases. Fritz Buelow stepped into the box
and laced a base-knock with two more runners crossing home. Milwaukee
threatened in the 9th but Detroit was able to put down the rally.
Siever(1-0) finished the game allowing 5 runs in the victory. The loss was
charged to Pete Dowling(0-1). He allowed a few too many baserunners giving
up 11 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.
