Cross provides key blow in another Athletics win

Lave Cross (pictured) ripped a 3-run home run in the Athletics 6th inning that helped propel rookie Eddie Plank to his first win. The Athletics have now won three straight in Washington. Cross is better known for his defensive prowess as he set records for fielding percentage in 1895 (.940, 7 points better than the previous record) and then in 1899 (.959, 12 points better than the previous record.
