Lave Cross had 5 hits and 4 RBI and Wiley Piatt allowed Connie Mack to rest

his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS clobbered

the outmatched Chicago White Sox, 14 to 3.

Cross had a good day at the plate. He banged out a single in the 1st inning,

lined a base-hit in the 3rd inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 6th inning,

delivered a base-hit which scored a run in the 7th inning and rifled a

three-run blast (his 3rd of the season) in the 9th inning. PHILADELPHIA

finished with 18 hits in the victory.

The win was credited to Piatt(2-4) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.

John Skopec(1-6) was hit with the loss. He was touched for 9 hits and 7

walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

PHILADELPHIA now has a record of 10-11. Not able to get much going in recent

weeks, Chicago is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record of 10-14.
