John Katoll went the distance at South Side Park as the Chicago White Sox beat
the PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS 6 to 5.
Chicago came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring
2 runs on 3 hits. Frank Isbell led off and started the rally when he
singled. Fred Hartman was next and he tripled knocking in a run. Frank
Shugart then hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning.
Chicago totaled 9 on the afternoon.
The victory was credited to Katoll(5-1) who went the distance, allowing 5
runs. The loss was charged to Wiley Piatt(2-5).
'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Katoll said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put
the ball where I wanted it.'
