Jimmy Williams hit 3 doubles and had 4 RBI as the Baltimore Orioles topped the
Detroit Tigers by a score of 13 to 5 at Bennett Park.
Williams had a big day against Detroit. He doubled plating a run in the 1st
inning, doubled bringing in a run in the 5th inning and doubled plating two
runs in the 9th inning. Baltimore kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
The winning pitcher was Jack Dunn(3-1) who allowed 4 runs in 8 innings. The
loss was charged to Emil Frisk(4-2). His ERA increased from 3.58 to 4.89 as
he allowed 13 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings.

Jack Cronin was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and Pop Dillon had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Bennett Park where the
Detroit Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 8 to 7.
In the bottom of the 6th inning Detroit scored 3 runs with the help of 5 hits.
They ended up being the winning runs. Baltimore had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.
Cronin(4-2) was the winner allowing 7 runs for the game. Joe McGinnity(4-6)
took the loss. He was unable to control the Detroit offense and allowed 15
hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.
BOSTON AT CHICAGO

Ben Beville pitched a complete game at South Side Park as the Boston Americans
beat the Chicago White Sox 9 to 8.
Boston went ahead for good in the 7th inning when they tallied 4 runs on 4
hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Buck Freeman who helped quiet
the crowd when he lined a one-base hit which was good for two runs. Chicago
made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs
across.
Beville(2-0) allowed 8 runs on the game. John Katoll(6-2) was given the loss
in relief. He was knocked around, surrendering 4 runs in 2 innings.
'We won because we did the little things right.' Jimmy Collins said after the
game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get
in close games we don't make mistakes.'

Cy Young had a strong outing as the Boston Americans beat the Chicago White
Sox by a score of 5 to 0.
Chicago was unable to claim the lead after Boston went ahead in the top of the
2nd inning scoring one runner. That was all the runs Young(6-2) needed.
Boston rapped out 10 hits for the afternoon.
Roy Patterson(2-5) was tagged with the loss. He surrendered 10 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings.
WASHINGTON AT MILWAUKEE

Watty Lee tossed a complete game shutout as the Washington Senators defeated
the Milwaukee Brewers by the score of 9 to 0 at Lloyd Street
Grounds.
Lee(4-3) delivered a fine performance for Washington. He was reached for 8
hits and 1 walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 4.61 to 3.96. Washington
finished with 11 hits in the victory.
Tully Sparks(2-2) suffered the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering
9 runs in 8 innings.

Third baseman Bill Coughlin blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI and Win Mercer
went 8 strong innings as the Washington Senators outscored the Milwaukee
Brewers in 10 innings 5 to 4.
The score was tied at 4 after nine. Washington came out the victor in the 10th
inning. After an out was recorded, Joe Quinn slapped a single. Pop Foster
stepped into the batter's box and he lined a single. Bill Everitt then hit a
deep fly scoring the run. Washington had 11 hits for the game and Milwaukee
had 7.
Bill Carrick(3-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Bill Reidy(3-3) was charged with the loss. He gave up 5 runs and 11
hits in 9 and 2/3 innings.
