Noodles Hahn carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning at Baker Bowl where the
Cincinnati Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2 to 0.

Hahn(5-4) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Philadelphia offense. He
surrendered only 1 hit and 3 walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.60
to 4.09. The left-handed Hahn lost his no-hit bid when Harry Wolverton
singled with two outs in the 7th inning. Neither team managed to score after
the 3rd inning.

Al Orth(3-3) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 2 runs and 7 hits in 9
innings.

Jack Powell pitched a complete game as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the
New York Giants by a score of 4 to 3 at Polo Grounds.

New York was unable to recover after St. Louis went ahead in the 5th inning
scoring a single run. New York threatened in the 9th but St. Louis was able
to put down the rally.

The win went to Powell(3-3) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Christy
Mathewson(6-3) was the loser. 'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you
just get lucky,' Powell said, 'this was one of those times.'
