Harry Howell completed the game without help from the bullpen at Oriole Park

as the Baltimore Orioles won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the

PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS by the count of 5 to 4.

Baltimore came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning

scoring 2 runs on 3 hits. George Rohe led off the inning for Baltimore when

he delivered a base-hit. John McGraw followed and he drew a walk. After an

out was recorded, Jimmy Williams came to the plate and laced a single to load

the bases. Bill Keister stepped in and he doubled giving Baltimore the win

and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Baltimore had a total of 11

hits for the game.

The win was credited to Howell(4-1) who went the whole way allowing 4 runs.

Wiley Piatt(0-4) was hit with the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 4 walks in 8

innings.

McGraw was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim

there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans -

they kept cheering us on. What a sweet win!'
