Senators send Jack O'Brien packing
28 year old outfielder, Jack O'Brien was waived by the Washington Senators. O'Brien hadn't performed poorly thus far, hitting .286 with 11 runs batted in, in 49 at bats. Washington is said to prefer the 23-year old Pop Foster, a righthanded hitter to the just released lefty O'Brien.
The Phillies are still searching for the answer at 2nd base, and have signed free agent Shad Barry. Barry had hit .279 in 43 at bats for the Boston Beaneater club earlier this season, but was squeezed out of playing time, and waived on May 9th.
