White shuts down red hot Superbas

Doc White was the first hurler to hold the Brooklyn club in check in this early part of the season. Phils got a pair of rbi's from 3 different players, giving White a lot of early support. Doc was also helped by his defense, which turned three double plays to end Brooklyn rallies. Phils get over .500 with the win (6-5) and handed the Superbas their first defeat in nine contests.

SUPERBAS by the score of 8 to 1 at Washington Park.

BROOKLYN fell behind quickly as the Philadelphia offense came through in the

first inning when they tallied 3 runs on 3 hits. That scoring would be all

that was needed. Philadelphia rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon.

The victory went to White(2-0) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Frank

Kitson(0-1) was charged with the loss. He gave up 8 runs and 9 hits in 9

innings.
