Pirates sell 24-year old lefty Waddell to Orphans
The Chicago Orphans continued their search for some stable starting pitching by buying Rube Waddell from Pittsburgh. The Pirates seemingly gave up on Waddell rather quickly. He was only 8-13 in 1900, but was 1-1 (with a 2.65 ERA) in two early season starts this year. Waddell is likely to fill the 3rd slot in the Chicago rotation behind Long Tom Hughes and Jack Taylor. Jack Chesbro is expected to fill Waddell's rotation slot for the Pirates.
