Doc McJames (pictured) twirled a beauty against the Reds with a minimum of support, and earned the 1-0 decision. Joe Kelley singled in the only run of the game in the 3rd inning. McJames did have to escape from a huge jam in the 9th when he loaded the bases (two on walks) with 1 out. He retired Magoon and Peitz to preserve the shutout win.

Doc McJames blanked Cincinnati in a very well-pitched complete game at
Washington Park as the BROOKLYN SUPERBAS beat the Cincinnati Reds by the
count of 1 to 0.
McJames(1-1) was very good in the win. He didn't allow much, just 7 hits and
2 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 8.64 to 4.15. Cincinnati had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Bill Phillips(1-3) suffered the loss. It was a tough loss for him as he did
not allow an earned run in his 8 innings of work.
